What can I expect when I walk into Pawn Pro?

When you walk into one of our shops, you’ll be greeted by one of our
appraisers. They will ask how they can help you. If you’re looking to
sell an item, they will look at what you have, do some research and
arrive at a buyback, store credit or cash offer.

If you’re looking for something specific, they can show you where the
item is. You’re also welcome to browse the shop. We have a lot to look
at! Our staff can show you how to use, setup, or test items in our shop.

Our shops are clean, well-lit and organized. We have a variety of
products available for sale both on display and in the back of our
shops. If you don’t see what you’re looking for, just ask! We may have
it available in the back, online, or in a different store.

What services does Pawn Pro offer?

Appraisal: Pawn Pro offers free appraisals on a variety of items. Interested in the value of your item? Fill out a quote form.

Repair: We also offer repair services for jewelry and watches.

Cash Offers/Buying: We buy a variety of items. Sell your item quickly and receive cash on the spot. Interested in selling your item? Text us pictures to (315) 401-6869 or fill out a quote form.

Trades: We offer more in store credit than cash for your items. If there’s something in our shop you want and you have an item to get rid of, we can work out a trade!

Does Pawn Pro do trades?

We offer more money on store credit for a trade than we do in cash. For example, if we offered $100 cash we may offer around $125 store credit
towards an item in our store.

Where does Pawn Pro get the items they sell?

Most of our items come from people who are either moving or downsizing.
We help people avoid the hassle of selling an item by themselves on
Craigslist, Facebook Marketplace or LetGo. Another source of our
inventory comes from people unable to return an item, whether they
received it as a gift, or it is outside of its return period.

Many sellers have upgraded to a newer model and trade in their older
items or their tastes have changed, and they are no longer interested in
the item.

Can I make an appointment to have an appraisal/sell my valuables?

While we do offer private appointments, they are usually unnecessary. We always have an appraiser available during business hours and they can
help you whenever you come in. We have private offices available if
necessary.

If you are still interested in making an appointment, give us a call at 315-449-1600 and we can set one up!

Frequently Asked

Selling Questions

How does an appraisal work?

We offer FREE appraisals on your valuables. One of our team members will
assess the value of your item and can give you more information about
any item you bring in. Whether you are looking for a cash offer from us,
advice on where or how to sell your item, or you just want to know the
current value of your item, we can help! You are never obligated to sell
your item.

How old do you have to be to sell to Pawn Pro?

You must be at least 18 years old to sell something to Pawn Pro. You
need a valid form of ID issued by the government. It must have your
picture and birth date on it. Accepted forms of ID are: driver’s
license, passport, military ID, EBT card, etc.

What do I need to bring to sell something to Pawn Pro?

In addition to the item(s) you're selling, you need a valid form of ID issued by the government. It must have your picture and birth date on it. Accepted forms of ID are: driver’s license, passport, military ID, EBT card, etc.

How do your appraisers come up with an offer for an item I would like to sell?

We utilize a variety of sources when appraising an items value. For most
items, we look at how it is currently selling on a marketplace such as
eBay. We consider the condition of the item and whether it is complete.

For gold or precious metals, we base our appraisals on the current market value of that precious metal.

How do I know I’m getting the best offer/most money for my item?

Pawn Pro looks at the current market value for your item when deciding what
to pay you for your item. We tend to offer higher amount than other pawn
shops because we work on a lower margin.

Selling gold: When you bring gold into Pawn Pro, we start by
looking up that day’s market value for gold. Next, we weigh it and
calculate it’s melt value. We offer between 60%-80% of your gold’s melt
value. We also take any diamonds included with the jewelry into
consideration.

In CNY, the typical gold buying stores offer between 40%-60% of your
gold’s melt value. We start at 60% and go up from there, depending on
quality and quantity.

Selling other items: When you bring items such as electronics,
tools, appliances, watches, and other items into Pawn Pro, we look at
what your items are selling for in the current market. We take into
account websites like eBay, Amazon, the original retailer’s price, and
other sources of information to arrive at your item’s current market
price. That price is what we can sell your item for after we buy it from you. We offer you a percentage of what we can sell your item for.

We are competitive with our offers and tend to beat most shops in
CNY. Our offers are standing offers. This means you’re welcome to come
in, get an offer and take up to 24 hours to consider it.

What type of jewelry does Pawn Pro buy?

We buy gold, silver, platinum & diamond jewelry. We do not buy costume or stainless-steel jewelry.

Does Pawn Pro only buy gold based on the melt value?

No. Pawn Pro takes many factors into consideration when appraising your gold. We will pay for pieces we can resell.

Does Pawn Pro buy scrap gold, silver or other precious metals?

Yes, we do. We buy broken jewelry or scrap gold, silver & platinum.

Do you pick up items?

Unfortunately, Pawn Pro does not have the license to purchase off-site.
We do offer some alternatives. You’re welcome to take pictures of your
items and text them to (315) 401-6869 and one of our appraisers will get back to you within the hour!

We also offer curb-side service. Load up your car with your unwanted
items and one of our buyers will come outside to your car and help you
go through your items.

We also offer an online quote form, where you can submit pictures and information. One of our appraisers will get back to you within 48 hours.

Are there items you do not buy?

We do not buy car audio, car rims, or firearms. There are other items we
do not buy but they vary. We will buy anything we can resell.

Wondering if we will buy your item? Send in a quote form or call us at 315-622-PAWN.

How do I find the value of my items?

Our appraisers have a wide array of knowledge on many items. If you are looking to find more about your item, bring it in, give us a call, text (315) 401-6869, or fill out a Quote Form and we can help you!

What is a buyback layaway?

Instead of selling your item, we offer a buyback layaway. This is similar to a
traditional “pawn”. Our appraisers’ will assess the value of the item
you bring in and make you a cash offer on your item. If you choose to do
a buyback layaway, we buy your item and put it on layaway for 30-days.

Your item must stay with us for at least 7 days, but you have up to
30 days to come buyback your item. When you buyback your item, you pay a
discounted “layaway price” that is based on how much money we gave you
plus a layaway fee.

For more information regarding our buyback program visit our buyback page or call us at 315-622-PAWN.

Will I make more money selling an item on my own or to Pawn Pro?

Pawn Pro makes it easy for you to get cash on the spot and sell your
item in minutes. We are happy to offer this service and avoid you the
hassle of selling an item on your own. Once we pay you, we then clean
and refurbish your item and put it out for sale.

You will make more selling an item on your own, but you also must do
the work to sell it. Pawn Pro’s offers are appropriate and consistently
above market standards.

How do I get paid at Pawn Pro?

Pawn Pro can pay you in  variety of ways. The first, and most common way, is
cash. We make cash offers and can pay you on the spot.

We can also pay you with store credit. This option pays you more than
a cash offer and you receive a gift card to use in the store.

Other methods of payment include check or digitally via Venmo.

Frequently Asked

Shopping Questions

What is Pawn Pro's return policy?

All sales are final. We do offer a warranty for some items. To learn more about our warranty, please view the next FAQ below.

Does Pawn Pro offer a warranty on the items they sell?

We offer a 7-Day warranty against defects on most of the items we sell. We fully test all the items that come into our shops but also like to offer a little extra assurance. If an item you purchased is defective, bring it back to our shop within 7 days of your purchase, with your receipt, and we will refund you store credit towards another purchase. Items that are not covered under warranty include but are not limited to: small engines and items sold “as-is”.

How do I find my stolen item?

The first step is to file a police report. When we buy an item from someone, they must provide an ID and be placed into our system. At the end of the night, everything we buy is submitted to an online database called “LeadsOnline”. Police departments have access to this database and can quickly search all shops in the area and find your stolen item. Every Pawn Shop in the area is legally required to submit their buys to LeadsOnline every night.

We also suggest monitoring Craigslist, LetGo, Facebook Marketplace and other online selling forums. These websites do not have any police regulation and do not require and ID to sell an item.

How old do you have to be to buy something from Pawn Pro?

There is no age restriction to buy most items from our shops. Items that may be age restricted include but are not limited to: knives, tobacco accessories, hunting equipment, etc.

What does "refurbish" mean?

We "refurbish" every item before it goes out for sale. This means we fully test, fix any issues, and clean the item to make it look as close to new as possible. Our goal is to help you find quality used merchandise at an affordable price!

How do you determine the value of a diamond?

We use the same standards as GIA, the leader in diamond education, research, and laboratory services. Our appraisers examine your diamond to determine its quality. When we look at your diamond, we are looking at the 4 “C’s”: Color, Clarity, Cut, and Carat Weight. Once these four factors are determined, they are used to properly determine the overall grade and value of the diamond.
